Doorset keeps your family's mornings on your Mac. There's no account, no cloud and no analytics. The only thing that can leave your Mac is an optional weather check, which sends your area's location to a weather service.

Doorset is made by Surettech, a sole proprietorship of Jeff Surette based in Massachusetts, USA. This page covers the Doorset Mac app and this website.

What stays on your Mac

Everything you set up in Doorset is saved in a folder on your Mac: the reminder times and words, your school days and days off, the HomePod you chose, your morning ratings if you use them, and Doorset's own logs. Apart from the optional weather check below, Doorset doesn't send any of it to us or anyone else. We don't run any servers for the app.

Speech and your HomePod

Doorset turns each reminder into speech on your Mac, using the voices built into macOS. It plays the sound on your HomePod over your home network.

The iPhone remote

The remote is a page that your Mac serves on your home network. Your iPhone talks to your Mac directly. Nothing goes through the internet or through us.

Weather (optional)

Weather is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, Doorset asks Open-Meteo for the day's forecast once each school day, sending only your area's location, rounded to about half a mile. Your Mac finds that once, when you turn weather on. Nothing else goes with that request. Open-Meteo's own privacy policy covers it.

This website

This site has no cookies and no analytics, and its fonts come from this site. If you join the waitlist, we keep the email address you enter so we can tell you when Doorset launches, and nothing else. It's stored with Cloudflare until the launch email goes out or you ask us to remove it at hello@doorset.app.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which handles standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

Children

Parents and guardians set up and run Doorset. It collects nothing from children and sends nothing about them anywhere.

What we don't do

• No ads, and no advertising identifiers.
• No analytics or crash-reporting tools in the app.
• We don't sell or share data, because we don't collect any.

Deleting your data

Your data lives only on your Mac, so deleting Doorset and its folder deletes everything. We hold nothing to delete on your behalf.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
